Well, there's no big deal. It's just a lively pub, full of character. With a nice crew, you're definitely in for a good night's antics.
It can get quite rammed on the weekend so best get there early. Even better, book a table, park yourself with a group of mates and order a late lunch. Your civilised afternoon can then roll into some post lunch drinks into the evening.
It can get packed in the evenings, so if you've booked, you've pretty much sorted yourself out with a hot spot, some evening drinking and lots of fun.
What's the vibe?
Kitsch, dimly-lit drinking and dining hotspot. There's kind of an art deco vibe going on with high ceilings decorated with a big chandelier and taxidermy too.
Whilst you're there make sure you visit the toilets.
Food and drink
You'll find a good selection of ales, craft beers & bottled beers, a good selection of wines and a choice of over 150 spirits. Bloody Mary's too.
The Hunter S is well known for delivering quality food. The menu changes to compliment the seasons but they have pub classics like burgers and fish & chips. So there's stuff for the food adventurers and also for the traditionalists.
Sunday roast is really good (the lamb is particularly popular). Booking is definitely recommended if you plan to eat there on the weekend. More info here.
